Silver Lining
“That’s not a gray hair, honey. That’s your silver lining.”
~Pamela Price
This blog post really isn’t about my curly top.
It’s been a tough year for a lot of us. COVID-19 came in like a wrecking ball. And its still here. I’ll admit that when news of the virus broke, I put it in my mental file cabinet and didn’t think much of it. Then March came and in a matter of weeks I began working from home indefinitely, heard reports of family and friends being effected by the virus and eventually had to cancel every trip that I had planned through July. However, changing my daily routine and canceling all of my trips hasn’t been a bad thing. For the first time in a long time, I’ve had a chance to be still. It’s given me a chance to not only really pay attention to how Black people are treated unequally in this country, but to process how I feel about it as a Black woman. I appreciate human interaction much more than I did before Quarantine Life. When I talk to my family and friends, I’m not halfway listening because I’m in the middle of something or rushing to the next place. I cooked collard greens for the first time. In fact, I cook every single day. Prior to Quarantine Life I would eat out two, maybe three times a DAY. I started this blog. I started a YouTube Channel. I had one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had. In the middle of a world pandemic, I have more peace than I did in parts of 2019.
I’m able to see all of this because I intentionally looked for it. It didn’t just fall into my lap. As I mentioned in my very first blog post, in 2020 I became intentional about starting to listen to my Inner Woman. It’s still a process, but I like what she’s saying.
Now, let’s talk about my curly top.
As promised, and mainly because I couldn’t resist, I tried another color of Hair Paint Wax. And I think I love the silver even more than the gold! I used the same technique for application as I did for the gold. Applying the product to a day old wash n go. As before I’m pleased with the results. I have my eye on four more colors that I want to try and I may even mix and match some of them. Of course I’ll keep you posted when I do. How has COVID-19 impacted your life? Have you tried out any of the hair paint wax brands yet? Sound off in the comments below and let me know!

Love your post and the hair wax! I too have been on a self care regimen during the quarantine. I have exercised more these last couple of months than I have my entire life and it feels great! Miss seeing you in person!

I’m glad you’re doing well and have developed a self care regimen! We’re getting the chance to do the things we normally would not have. I miss seeing you in person too and I can’t wait for “outside” to open back up all the way.

Great Post! Taking time for self reflection is key to seeing things you haven’t seen before.

Thank you! It really is. I’ve learned so much about myself during this time!
